Project Lead The Way

Project Lead The Way courses at Binghamton High School have been opening doors for our students to explore future careers in STEM for many years now, and the high school is now being recognized for what those courses provide through being named a PLTW Distinguished Program in the High School category.

This recognition celebrates Binghamton High School’s commitment to hands-on learning in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math. BHS is one of 661 high schools in the United States to get this distinction.

In order to qualify, schools must offer at least three PLTW courses, have high student participation, and show that they create learning experiences that help students build their skills. Students who take PLTW courses learn how to think critically and explore possible careers in STEM fields. The award would not have been possible without the hard work of long-term PLTW teachers Kurt and Marta Gaska, along with Scott Blankenbaker, who is teaching computer science classes at the high school that students have been eager to take.

In addition to this recognition, PLTW has awarded the high school a grant that covers the cost of offering the PLTW Computer Science classes for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school years.

We’re proud of our teachers and families for supporting a program that helps expand the minds of our students!
