School of Excellence

Binghamton High School was recently named a School of Excellence by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association for students' excellence in the classroom, as well as on the field.

"Balancing academic responsibilities with the demands of athletic competition is no small feat, yet our students excel in both arenas, demonstrating commitment and dedication," said Binghamton High School Principal Kevin Richman. "Their hard work in both the classroom and on the field, court, or track are truly commendable."

Only 28% of public high schools in New York received this honor this year, which goes to schools that have at least three-quarters of its varsity teams meeting the standard to qualify for the the Scholar-Athlete Team Award.

“The efforts made by student-athletes in the classroom are paramount to their success in the athletic arena, and beyond their high school days,” said Dr. Robert Zayas, NYSPHSAA Executive Director. “We are proud of those who put in the work as ‘student’ and ‘athlete’, as well as the growth in both of School of Excellence and Distinction recognition.”

This is the second year in a row that Binghamton High School has received this honor. Congratulations to all our amazing student athletes! #BPatriotProud
